Creative Dance – Part 2
Peace Pact Presentations
Here are some video clips of the children presenting a news report of the signing of a peace pact.
All the students looked at various conflicts and how they arose and what methods could be used to resolve the issues. They looked at the idea of learning a different language, learning about other cultures and religions and listening to each other. They then had to write a peace pact which might help the people of Sri Lanka.
In the videos they talk about and sign their peace pacts.

Creative ICT & Media – Thursday
A fantastic day’s filming by all the students. As well as finishing off their individual movies, students also used the green screen and the tricaster to create some film footage for their film for Monday evening.
Creative Dance – Part 1
Creative ICT & Media
Students continued planning their content of their video. They used iMovie to create a sideshow of relevant images with transitions. During the afternoon they sampled Garageband and each created some accompanying music for their slideshows. Tomorrow we will start to film the main part of out film using Green Screen technology! The students have been excellent both in their work ethic, their thinking and ideas and also their enthusiasm. Well done so far and keep up the good work!

Creative Media & ICT – Monday 15th June
During the first sessions students compared the UK and Sri Lanka using tree maps. On the afternoon they worked in small groups to use Mind Mapping software and the Internet to categorise their findings.
P4C
Today’s first Philosophy for Children session asked students to respond with awe and wonder to their world. We began by exploring a number of images ranging from a new born baby, to a satellite picture of the earth from space, to a photograph of X-Men’s Wolverine. Each image was discussed and considered to be inspiring to varying degrees. This activity provided an excellent introduction to the P4C session.
Using Walt Whitman’s poem ‘Miracles’ as a stimulus, we then discussed a number of philosophical questions, including ‘How can a miracle be defined?’ and ‘If everything is a miracle, then why can man be destructive?’
The students took responsible risks by exploring probing questions and they also listened with empathy and understanding to each other’s opinions. The session enabled us to think deeply about how and why we value our world. Well done, everyone!
